The first major event after the National AGM will be our Annual Dinner and Installation of our new Chairman for the year w2008/2009. It will be held on the 28th of June at the Sime Darby Convention Centre, Our Chief Guest this time, pending his final confirmation, will be the Federal Territory Minister, Y.B. Dato' Seri Zulhasnan Rafique. And of course, our MMA President, Dato' Dr. Khoo Kah Lin will be present too.

We hope that our branch members will show support to the branch by ensuring their presence at the dinner.

Our doctors in Wilayah are always busy with their work, so much so that they have lost touch with many of their old classmates and colleagues, only interacting with those at their place of practice. Please do take the time to socialize and let our hair down. I promise you that it will be rather refreshing to mingle around and reestablish contacts with those old familiar faces whom we haven't seen in a long while
.
I extend a personal invitation to my old classmates and colleagues to attend the dinner which will be at a very reasonable charge per person.

Please do not grumble about having to pay for your attendance as the charges are heavily subsidized. The venue and food do not come cheap and we are having the famous 'Comedy Court ' duo to entertain us with their jokes. It promises to be a fun filled night with a karaoke session as well as a band to accompany those of us who like to dance. We need to show that we doctors are able to loosen our collars and enjoy ourselves, but most important, we need to show our solidarity by participating in this fellowship function.

So, I do hope to see all our friends at the fun filled dinner.

As for the next event, this will be the 4th Primary Care Symposium (11th and 12th of October, 2008 at Nikko Hotel Kuala Lumpur) meant for all Primary Care Doctors as well as others who wish to brush up on their knowledge in Primary Care Medicine. The previous events were all well attended and the participants felt that it was well worth their time to be present for the symposium.

Care is always taken to ensure a wide coverage so that a variety of lectures covering various specialities can be held. Due to the vast range of topics in Primary Care Medicine, it is never possible to cover everything in the two short days, hence the nine month cycle of the Primary Care Symposia.

I would like to describe the series of symposia as a meeting of minds as it presents the opportunity for both the Specialists and the Primary Care Doctors a chance to mingle and exchange ideas and thoughts. It is not just a series of boring lectures.

There will be a host of other activities which will be conducted in due course of time. And we do bear in mind that our members comprise of not just the Private Practitioners but also those who are in the Government Service. Also not to be left out are the Academicians whose number has been rising recently in tandem with the new Medical Colleges/Universities being set up.

I do realize that there are a number of foreign medical students, as well as those who are doing their post graduate studies in the Klang Valley. I extend a warm welcome to them and would like to hear from them as well.
